This post is designed to provide new clients and team members that will be administering the La Trinidad web site, a quick introduction to the administration interface.

The Basics of the Administration Interface

The landing page after logging in is called ‘Community Governance’.The Community Governance ‘dashboard’ provides information on the most recent activity on your site. There is also information on updated features available within Wordpress.Across the top of the Admin screen main menu says:

This is where you go to write new posts and edit existing ones.

Write Page

Pages are like posts but live outside of the normal chronology. This means they will not be displayed with the rest of your posts; they can only be displayed individually. The Pages SubPanel allows you to create new Pages and edit existing ones

Manage - Change your content

All of your site content can be managed through the admin panel. Lists of all Posts, Pages, and Categories are available and here you and edit or view any of the above. On this page you can also edit your Templates, Import content from various sources, and Export your blog.


Once in the Manage Panel, you will be able to see Manage Posts SubPanel. Here you can edit and delete existing posts.


Pages are like posts but are available from the Manage Pages Panel. Everything in the Manage Pages SubPanel is essentially the same as at the Manage Posts SubPanel. But there are a few differences.


From the Upload Administration Panel, you can edit information and delete uploads previously uploaded via the Upload option. Posts and Pages.


Each Post and Link will be filed under one or more categories.To set up a site hierachy in the Category, every category can be assigned to a Category Parent. When setting up categories, always remember that every category name must be unique. Even if two categories have two different parents, they must still have different names. WordPress shows all the categories to which a given post belongs under that of that post.The Manage Categories SubPanel allows you to create new categories, edit or delete existing ones, and organize your categories hierarchically.


Page: Web PagePost: A Web Page may be composed of a number of posts in order of time. This is how a web blog is used as a diary. E.g A Post should be used if a document is to grow regularly; FAQ section, Portfolio, list of Clients.Upload: Type of File added to website. E.g Photo or word document.Comment: Once a website has been published, Readers may add thoughts and feedback if allowedCategories: Subjects under which posts may be listed e.g Client List


Wordpress allows the user to edit many files Examples include your theme templates. In the Manage Files SubPanel, these files can be accessed and modified to suit your needs.


WordPress currently supports importing data in the form of posts (articles) and most of the details or features supported by the existing software, from the following content publishing platforms. The details on importing are described in Importing Content.


WordPress Export will create an XML file for you to save to your computer. The format, which is called a WordPress eXtended RSS or WXR file, will contain your posts, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags.
